Scottish Amateur FA Launches New Streaming Platform
Introducing SAFA TV: A Modern Era for Scottish Amateur Football
Today marks the official launch of SAFA TV, an innovative football streaming platform dedicated to transforming the visibility, accessibility, and financial sustainability of amateur football in Scotland.
SAFA TV has been created with a clear mission: to shine a spotlight on the thousands of clubs, players, and communities that form the backbone of the game. By providing a dedicated platform to broadcast matches, highlights, and original content, SAFA TV aims to bring amateur football to a wider audience than ever before.
Unlike other broadcasting models, SAFA TV is built on a club centred philosophy. The platform is part of a long-term initiative to monetise streaming rights in a way that directly benefits clubs who participate. All revenue generated through subscriptions, advertising, and partnerships will be reinvested back into the clubs whose games are featured—helping to provide a sustainable revenue stream.
“Since joining the Scottish Amateur FA, I’ve heard so many clubs with concerns about the struggles of finances, player recruitment and showcasing the football played by the club” said Gary Nimmo, SAFA Technical Officer and Manager of SAFA TV. “We are building a platform that not only showcases the game but also creates a sustainable economic model where clubs will actually get a financial income from games. The project is hoping to develop into a Netflix style platform where fans can access as many games as they like each month for a low cost fee, making amateur football truly accessible all over the globe.”
SAFA TV will offer:
- Live streaming of selected amateur matches initially across SAFA National and Distict cups before expanding into leagues and regions.
- On-demand content, including highlights, interviews, and documentaries.
- Revenue-sharing model, ensuring clubs directly benefit from any games they stream to the platform.
The launch of SAFA TV represents a significant step towards bridging the gap between grassroots and professional football, creating new opportunities for players, coaches, and clubs to gain recognition and support.
As the platform grows, SAFA TV plans to expand its coverage, introduce club level channels, and develop partnerships that further enhance the profile of amateur football in Scotland.
